Following the ongoing success of its Pandemic Relief for International Students, Somos21 is proud to announce that it will be entering into a Strategic Alliance Partner Agreement with Deakin University.
Somos21 has always maintained a strong relationship with the student community- epitomised by its current fundraiser that aims to support Latin American students struggling with the effects of COVID-19. The partnership further highlights this commitment and for the first time officially aligns the Somos21 community and network with an Australian educational institution.
Deakin is positioned as the ideal partner for Somos21 as it is one of the few Australian universities with a presence in the Latin American region. Since 2017, the universtiy has had an office in Uruguay and another in Brazil since 2019, demonstrating their commitment to the developing relationship between the two regions.
"We are pleased to announce that we have entered a new strategic partnership with Somos21 with the aim of offering students and professionals in Australia and Latin America opportunities for professional development. As the Latin American student and professional community grows in Australia, and Australians show increasing interest in Latin America, we feel this collaboration will be greatly beneficial to both Australia and Latin America..." said Gonzalo Perez, Director for Latin America at Deakin University.
Deakin University will now have a strong presence on the Somos21 platform, allowing them to share content through the available media centre, access talent and provide short courses for potential students considering Australia as a study destination. Students from Deakin will also have term access to the professional version of the platform, providing them with a widespread network of industry professionals to connect with and learn from as part of their ongoing studies.
"Working collaboratively with a professional university such as Deakin will allow us to continue fostering connections between the regions; not only educational connections, but with respect to culture, language, trade and commerce..." says Oliver Houlcroft, CEO of Somos21.
This strategic alliance marks the beginning of a new and bright future for Somos21 and the entire network shares in the excitement for the benefits this partnership will offer to the members of the platform, the students of Deakin and the wider community interested in the ever-evolving Australia and Latin America relationship.
