Do you have mild symptoms? You must take the COVID-19 test

Jun 18, 2020

One of the conditions the Australian government is imposing to further relax restrictions on the coronavirus is for people with mild symptoms to be tested for COVID 19.

Dr. Natali Smud, New South Wales Health Promotion Coordinator, encourages "anyone with a sore throat, runny nose, breathing difficulties, or fever should get tested."

Despite the fact that the test is free, simple, safe and does not require a doctor's recommendation, or a medical card or health insurance, the health authorities are perceiving that multicultural communities are not attending as expected from the COVID tests.

"Communities are not aware of all the variety of clinics that the government has made available to the population for coronavirus testing," says Smud.

  • Anyone with a sore throat, runny nose, breathing difficulties, or fever should be tested for COVID-19.
  • It is a free trial and does not require a Medicare card or health insurance.
  • There are a variety of places available for testing, even without leaving the car.

"One can access directly without a previous shift and be tested in different hospitals or community centers, or Drive-Through clinics where the test is done without leaving the car, which makes it very fast and safe."

"There are also other temporary pop-up clinics , located in hospitals and community centers."

"The test is very simple, it is non-invasive, they take a sample from the nose or throat, which is a little uncomfortable, but it is not painful and it is very fast."

"Once the test is done, you have to stay at home in quarantine, and in two or three days, the results are given."

The results are confidential and there are no repercussions of any kind with the visa situation or at work.
