With the COVID-19 situation changing so rapidly, including travel restrictions and self-isolation requirements, we would like to assure you that StudyAdelaide is here to support your international students in Adelaide during this unique time.

In addition to the COVID-19 update for international students page and virtual self-isolation pack that was created, we have put together a range of virtual activities and support services for your students in Adelaide. This includes health informationprograms and giveaways and a list of support services in Adelaide.  


Health Information

If your students are feeling unwell - please find the advice below on what they should do.

Students can contact their preferred medical providers in Adelaide or contact SA Health 1300 232 272 for expert health advice and information. 

📞The National Coronavirus Information Helpline, 1800 020 080 is available 24/7 for information and advice on COVID-19. Should you require translating assistance when seeking medical advice please call TIS – Translating and Interpreting Service on 13 14 50.

Australian Government COVID-19 App

The Australian Government has released an official 'Coronavirus App' in the Apple App Store and Google Play.

There is also a WhatsApp channel to receive official Government updates.


Overseas Student Health Care (OSHC)

The Overseas Student Health Care (OSHC) is closely aligned to the Medicare system which is used by Australian citizens and residents. The coverage is in place for health concerns, including COVID-19.

In the event a student was to visit a Hospital's Emergency Department with a suspected (or subsequently confirmed) case of COVID-19, then coverage would likely be confirmed for this treatment as it was sought under an emergency situation, which is 100% of the Medical Benefits Scheme Fee.

Support Services

It’s a challenging time for everyone right now. Please reach out to support services if you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed, it is OK to seek help.

In addition to the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendation on coping with stress during the 2019-nCov outbreak (PDF), we have outlined some support services international students can access below which may help. 

  • Office of the Training Advocate (OTA) - For guidance on where to source information regarding your study, living or work situation, and assistance to resolve issues you may be experiencing. Visit
  • Headspace - Whether you need information or someone to talk to, Headspace will provide you with free online support and counselling for 12 to 25 year olds. Visit
  • Beyond Blue - Provides information on managing your mental health during this difficult time. Visit

  • Lifeline - Provides 24 hour crisis support for those experiencing a personal crisis in Australia. Visit

The Australian Government has provided a dedicated email and hotline for international students if you have further questions - or call 1300 981 621 (8am to 8pm AEDST Monday to Friday - calls within Australia only).

The Department of Home Affairs also have a Global Service Centre available on +61 131 881 (9am to 5pm AEDT Monday to Friday)
