Chilean writer Isabel Allende is famous for her novels The
House of the Spirits and City of the Beasts. In 2004 she
was inducted to the American Academy of Arts and
Letters,and in 2010 she was the recipient of Chile’s
National Literature Prize. She has received widespread
critical acclaim for her work and is especially noted for
her strong, feminine perspective and focus on paying
homage to the lives of women.
